đThis week in classes it's all about Saucha, purity/cleanliness and keeping the body clean. Yogis eat clean to support the benefits of a regular Hatha Yoga practice.
â¨ď¸It was a long road that led me towards clean eating. That road wasn't yoga philosophy telling me to do so- it was my body that begged for it. đI had been experiencing episodes of extreme pain in my low belly for awhile that eventually got diagnosed by my primary as IBS in 2019 and I was told to eat low FODMAP. Basically my entire diet had been high FODMAP (foods that arent absorbed in the small intestine and ferment in the colon causing bloating, gas, and constipation). So I gave it a slight go, but I still wasn't satisfied with my diagnosis as other symptoms pointed at something else. Plus it felt so limiting, I resisted the change. â¨ď¸In early 2020 my symptoms and bouts of pain got so bad that my obgyn bumped up my appointment. I was eventually sent to get an ultrasound and MRI which both showed a cyst in my left ovary diagnosed as an endomitrioma. I chose to see if I could shrink it without hormones and surgery now that I knew what was going on. I went full on low FODMAP for awhile, spoke to many trusted sources and added in: a few Ayurvedic herbs (Shatavri and Triphala), CBD, fish oil, Turkey Tail supplement, probiotic, and an "Endocrine is Fine" hormone balancing tincture from an herbalist Rocelle Baca @sacredplantmedicine I also added in regular castor oil packs on my low belly a few times a week. I've been consistent with all additions for 2 years. My symptoms are basically gone. đ I was told last year by my doctor that as long as no symptoms, no surgery was needed. That's enough reason for me to do my best to stay clean the changes I made worked! â¨ď¸My diet is no longer strict low FODMAP but at about 80%, because it's extremely difficult to do long term, it's very simple foods with little variety. I also cut out other foods due to personal reasons (chicken, beef, pork) but I'm 98% on those as sometimes at a holiday or event I will taste some of those items. I'm not rigid, I do my best and love myself there. đI live this way because it makes my body and mind feel good. I was tired of my belly pain and found things that irradicated most of the symptoms. What I also noticed about living this way was that my extra weight just naturally fell off, my skin got clearer and my moods more stable. My body neutralized itself when I made better choices about what I fed it. I naturally was led towards a yogic way of eating. If that's not Yoga magic in action, I don't know what is! đChange is a process, it's not easy but it's worth it. â¨ď¸People often ask me about what I eat- pictured is an example of an average breakfast. đI trust this finds who it's meant to. Thanks for letting me share. đŚWith love, Veronica âŽď¸đđđđđŚđđđđâŽď¸#blissfulbutterfly #blissfulbutterflyyoga #yoga #yogaeveryday #yogaforall #traumainformedyoga #yogatherapy #ciayt #yogatherapist #peace #truth #love #loveyourself #selfcare #selflove #movementismedicine #yogalove #compassion #wellness #yogaisawayoflife #heal #spiritualjourney #breathe #mindfulness #shine #gratitude #healthliving #lowfodmap #cleanliving #cleaneating
