Yoga Therapy

What is Yoga Therapy?

According to the International Association of Yoga Therapists: "Yoga Therapy is the professional application of the principles and practices of yoga to promote health and well-being within a therapeutic relationship that includes personalized assessment, goal setting, lifestyle management, and yoga practices for individuals or small groups."

Yoga Therapy is a holistic approach to wellness that incorporates physical, emotional, and spiritual elements of the practice. Through my teaching under the name Blissful Butterfly Yoga, I use my expertise as a Comprehensive Yoga Therapist, with a trauma-informed lens, to help you heal your relationship with yourself, supporting self-love and living aligned with your most authentic self.

 

How is Yoga Therapy Different from Yoga?

While both Yoga Therapy and traditional yoga involve postures and breathing techniques, Yoga Therapy is a more personalized and therapeutic approach. In a yoga therapy session, I work with you to create a personalized program that meets your specific needs, taking into account your health history, current symptoms, and lifestyle.

How is Yoga Therapy with Veronica Unique?

Throughout the past 20+ years I have been on a personal healing journey to recover from broken hearts, developmental & spiritual traumas and embrace openly living with androgenic alopecia. I use bits of my story to support and inspire others on their healing journeys.

 

I have a background in Psychology in relationship-based therapy with children, which lends to my playful nature. I consider myself a steward of children, both little littles and inner children. 

 

Along the way I have not only learned in academic and professional settings but have also immersed myself in spiritual community through various festivals, intentional events, ashram life, and have taken in spiritual wisdom from many trusted guides/teachers.

Due to my life experience and educational background I not only bring into my Yoga Therapy sessions classical yoga practices and principles, but I also sew in spiritual guidance, inner child healing & shadow work.

I use a combination of breathing, movement,  mindfulness, and draw on the wisdom of yoga philosophy lenses such as energetic hygiene of the chakras, the yoga 8-fold path, and nutrition of the entire being, to deepen your understanding of the true breadth of yoga. This supports your overall wellness by learning how to bring yoga into your life.  I utilize conversation and assessments to personalize the education and practices.  Goals are set during each session to provide accountability for supporting changes you want to make in your life. My style is practical yet playful. My approach is trauma-informed.

I currently offer single sessions that can be scheduled bi-weekly or monthly (see below). Soon, I'll be launching the first program in my new 'Metamorphosis Series,' which will be a 12 week intensive that includes weekly sessions with me, a custom-designed workbook, and additional supports tailored to your journey. Each program in the Metamorphosis Series will target specific audiences (details on the first one coming soon!) and will guide participants in healing their relationship with themselves using classical yoga practices, spiritual guidance, inner child healing, and shadow work.​​

*It's important to note that while Yoga Therapy can be a helpful complementary intervention for some conditions, it should not be used as a substitute for conventional medical treatment. If you have a medical condition, it's important to talk to your doctor before starting any new form of therapy, including yoga therapy.
